Frequently asked questions
How does period swimwear work?
It looks like a regular swimsuit bikini bottom; the only difference is that it has an almost invincible period absorbing pad stitched on the inside of the bottom.
Our period swimwear consists of three layers of fabric - a top quick-drying one that absorbs your menstrual flow, a second layer of fabric with a waterproof bottom that locks in the menstrual flow, and a third layer of fabric for extra protection.
You can wear our period swimwear on its own, WITHOUT any tampons or underneath a swimsuit. It absorbs between 10 - 15 ml of menstrual flow and can be worn for about 8 hours on days with light to moderate flow. On days with heavy flow, you’ll need to change it more often.
Our period swimwear can be worn by teenagers and grown-ups.
The maintenance is super easy, you can handwash or machine-wash it at 30 degrees with your favourite soap bar or laundry detergent, just don’t use any fabric softener. You can wash it together with other clothes too, we promise, your laundry won’t look like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 😀
Dry under natural sunlight, do not use a dryer because it can damage the fabric.

What other sustainable menstrual products can I use for swimming on my period?
You can try out our menstrual cup or menstrual disc.
Discreet, absorbing between 17 – 50 ml of menstrual flow (as much as 3 – 10 tampons).
Size Mini of the Organicup/AllMatters menstrual cups is designed especially for teenagers.
How do period pants work?
The menstrual flow falls on the top quick-drying layer of the fabric, then it is absorbed and “locked” in the middle layer. Our period pants have also an additional waterproof layer for extra protection. We offer different models of period pants. You can browse them by cut (thongs, bikinis, boxers, etc.) and by absorbency. Our model with lowest absorbency absorbs 7 ml of period flow (as much as 1 regular tampon), and the model with the highest absorbency – 60 ml (as much as 12 tampons).
How do I know what is my size?
Measure your hip line and see which size it corresponds to according to the size chart.
You need to place a sewing meter or tape measure on top of your hip bone and measure your full hip line.

I need more information on menstrual health ...
Check out our Founder Vera’s book – “Menstruation from A to Z”, it contains information on suitable foods and sports activities during the different phases of one’s menstrual cycle, traces the history of the invention of different types of menstrual products, presents international scientific research on their impact on our health, finances and the environment. “Menstruation from A to Z” shares stories about menarche (one’s first period) in Bulgaria and around the world, explores the representation of menstruation in films and series, and at the same time touches on important issues such as period poverty and female genital mutilation. The book also examines the emergence of global menstrual activism and points to examples of useful practices from other countries such as the introduction of paid menstrual leave, the reduction of VAT on menstrual products and the adoption of plans for providing free menstrual products to girls and women in need.
