 Zerowaste laundry? Mission completed.

The average family generates a minimum of 15 kg of waste for 25 years from laundry products sold in plastic packaging (detergents, capsules and fabric softeners). These are not recyclable and in the “best” case scenario get burnt emitting harmful gases into the atmosphere.

Let’s put an end to this NOW

How?

With the help of one Magical eco laundry ballone Vegan Marseille soap and a homemade fabric softener.

What is this Magical eco laundry ball?

Small, cute and made of plenty of minerals with antimicrobial and chlorine-absorbing action. It will save you not only the use of plastic but also quite a lot of money because for the price of 7.15 Euros you can do your whole laundry for 10 years (the amount is calculated based on 2 washes per week). You can use the ball for washing towels, clothes that you’ve worn a few times, underwear, socks and bedding sheets which do not have hard stains.

If you need a recipe for dealing with hard stains, do not worry:

Here comes our Vegan Marseille Soap. Grate around half a cup (250 ml) and put it into the washing machine.

And now it’s time for the fabric softener. Are you ready?

Here is the recipe for a homemade fabric softener:

Stir 1 cup (250 ml) baking soda into 2 cups (500 ml) of hot water until well combined. Then slowly pour 1 cup (250 ml) of white vinegar and stir gently till the baking soda dissolves and add 30 drops of essential oil of your choice and voila, your fabric softener is ready : )

You’ll need around 1/4 (60 ml) cup of softener for 1 machine load. Pour the fabric softener into the washing machine during rinse cycle, don’t add it before the first wash cycle. Pour the remaining fabric softener into a storage container and shake it to combine the paste before use.

This recipe is highly recommended for homes with hard water because baking soda doesn’t dissolve but gets soaked. Baking soda also regulates the Ph level in the rinse water, preventing it from becoming too acidic or too alkaline.
