Zero Waste Hair Care

 Zero Waste Hair Care

We all wash our hair (I hope) : D and we all use hair care products. But how do we choose such hair care products that are not only good for our hair but also good for the environment?

I have a few ideas…

The zero-waste hair care routine. Part 1

Everyone’s hair has its own needs, mine for example loves being treated with different products every 2-3 months; that’s why what I’m doing right now is 2 months with QQ Natural’s Shampoo with Fuller’s Earth and Lemongrass which comes in a glass bottle (yeey) and then 2 months with their Soap & Shampoo Bar which also contains Fuller’s Earth and Lemongrass. The change of textures allows me to continue using pretty much the same product + one more bonus is that the Soap & Shampoo Bar is pretty compact and easy to carry when travelling. The Fuller’s Earth also strengthens the roots and fights grease like no other ingredient.

And for those of you who prefer the dry shampoo…

I highly recommend corn starch. Massage a little bit on your roots and voila, your hair is sparkling clean in no time. I love it during busy days when I’m running around the city to do dozens of tasks or when I’m camping.

How do we nourish the hair then?

These days I’m having less & less free time for homemade recipes so I love QQ Naturals’ 2 in 1: Hair mask & conditioner .It comes in a glass jar and it’s handmade locally here in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. It also makes the hair soft and prevents the ends from breakage because it contains ylang-ylang, what more can one ask for : )

If you are more into home remedies, you can put a little bit of olive oil or coconut oil on your ends. I recommend leaving the coconut oil/olive oil for as long as possible. What I usually do when I opt for this method is that I put some olive oil/coconut oil on my ends and then I put on a shower cap and go to bed. Then I wash my hair in the morning without any conditioner or mask and I go out. The result is soft and shiny hair.

NB! Do not put coconut oil/olive oil on your roots because it might get your hair oily.
